Inspired by Thoreau’s track metaphor in Walden, Sleepers reflects upon the desperate conditions in which people often find themselves. People complacently accept things such as environmental degradation, manufactured culture, and feelings of powerlessness. As Thoreau wrote, “We do not ride on the railroad; it rides upon us.”
